My name is Matt Tinker. I have been guiding for 20 years and received recreation Guide license in '97 and finally my Master Maine Guide License in '99. I am not a big outfitter, I am a small home business which allows me to make each trip unique. I guide year round, not just hunting season. Moose are my main business. From finding sheds in the winter, canoeing to see them in the lake, or photographing moose in the fall foliage, being out there gives me a great idea where the animals are all year.
Over the last few years I have competed in several moose calling competitions. The 2015 contest was held in Bethel where I finished 1st in the qualifier then slipped into 3rd during the finals. In June 2012, I finished 2nd in the "World Invitational Moose Calling Championship" also held in Maine. Here is a link to a couple short videos from the 2012 contest:
During my time as a guide, I have had the opportunity to work with several other guides and outfitters. I have spent a couple of seasons working on and off for different outfitter during hunting seasons. I have guided Bear hunts, Deer hunts, and Moose hunts for the outfitters and learned many things with them about guiding and hunting.
During the winter I teach skiing and am a PSIA-E examiner. I travel to resorts all over the East coast from Maine to North Carolina and work with other ski instructors to help improve their skiing and teaching. I mainly work at Sugarloaf and teach people of all ages and abilities. I have also been filmed for videos and my image has been in almost all major ski magazines.
